Actor and comedian Tim Allen continues to open up about his personal journey through the Bible, recently sharing his amazement as he dives into the New Testament book of Romans.

The Shifting Gears star took to social media to update fans on his progress, noting the powerful impact of Apostle Paul’s writing.

“Finished the Old Testament, and it is such a gift when I get out of the way and the words and meaning flow,” Allen posted on X. “This week I am now in the book of the Gospel of Paul — a Roman Jew familiar with Plato, Stoicism, and other Greek schools of thought. I am amazed in seven pages!”

To clarify, he followed up with another post: “Ok, specifically reading Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans.”

Allen, 71, has been publicly chronicling his Bible-reading journey for the past year, calling it a humbling and transformative experience. In February, he described finishing the Old Testament as an “overwhelming experience.”

“After nearly a year, I have finished [the] entire Old Testament,” he wrote. “The experience of re-reading, dedicated focus, and no drifting has made this a humbling, overwhelming experience. What a treasure.”

The actor, known for his conservative views and outspoken honesty, first shared his spiritual discipline publicly in August 2023. At the time, he admitted reading the Bible wasn’t what he expected — but in a good way.

“It’s been amazing,” he wrote. “Not at all what I was expecting.”

Allen’s spiritual reflections are rooted in a personal backstory marked by tragedy and growth. During a 2011 interview on ABC’s 20/20, he revealed that he began to question God after his father was killed by a drunk driver when Allen was just 11 years old. The loss triggered deep doubts and a struggle with faith.

But over time, that faith was rekindled.

In his conversation with host Elizabeth Vargas, Allen described his renewed view of God as “the Builder,” someone he turns to for guidance and purpose.

“I always do ask … the Builder, ‘What did You want me to do?’” Allen said. “And I do ask it, but you’ve got to be prepared for the answer.”

Tim Allen’s candid openness about his spiritual life — from grief and doubt to rediscovery and devotion — continues to resonate with fans as he shares his journey, one page at a time.
