When we look at our lives, we see what the devil truly offers us. We see how manipulative he can be. Today, let’s take a deep dive into what the devil offers and counter it with the truth from the word.
Here are the 7 counterfeit offers that the devil will tempt and entice you with, but don’t let the number seven fool you. Nothing is complete about it.
1. Worldly Power and Success
- Matthew 4:8–9 shows Satan tempting Jesus with “all the kingdoms of the world and their glory” if He would bow down and worship him.
- The enemy often entices people with influence, recognition, and status — but these are fleeting and never satisfy.
2. Money and Material Wealth
- Satan uses greed and love of money to trap people (1 Timothy 6:9–10).
- Wealth itself isn’t sinful, but the pursuit of it as an idol — at the expense of righteousness — is a common snare.
3. Lust and Sexual Sin
- Lust is one of his strongest tools. Sexual temptation is used to destroy marriages, families, and personal integrity (Proverbs 7, 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5).
- It promises pleasure but brings emptiness, addiction, guilt, and broken relationships.
4. Pride and Self-Glory
- Satan himself fell because of pride (Isaiah 14:12–15, Ezekiel 28:17).
- He tempts people to believe they don’t need God, convincing them they can “be like God” (Genesis 3:5).
5. False Freedom
- The devil offers “freedom” through sin — do whatever you want, live without limits. But Jesus taught that sin enslaves (John 8:34).
- What feels like liberation becomes bondage.
6. Pleasure Without Consequence
- He whispers that you can indulge in drugs, lust, anger, greed, or revenge and “get away with it.”
- Proverbs 14:12 warns: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
7. Lies and Counterfeit Spirituality
- Satan disguises himself as an “angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
- He offers false religion, counterfeit miracles, and New Age “wisdom” to keep people from the truth of Christ.
The Core of His Offers
Everything Satan offers — money, sex, success, power — is a counterfeit. It’s designed to look good in the short term, but it always leads to destruction. He cannot give true joy, love, peace, or life, because those only come from God.
Jesus summed it up in John 10:10:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
